Plant-based Diets and Health

Plant-based diets have been found to reverse or reduce the risk of many of the top causes of poor health and death in Americans, including obesity and high cholesterol, Type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain types of cancer. And, the World Health Organization has listed processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen, meaning it causes cancer in humans, and red meat as a Group 2A carcinogen, meaning it probably causes cancer in humans.

While all diets require planning to ensure adequate nutrition, the current (non-vegan) standard American diet has been found to contribute to disease in both children and adults.
